  1. The Inheritors is very interesting stylistically. Golding uses particular syntactic structures to distinguish the two groups suggesting that Homo sapiens wins out because of their greater ability to make connections and to act as agents.

  2. You’ve been busy. Royal Escape is on my (very short) list of Heyers that I haven’t yet read but am not completely sure I need to, either. I’m sure it’s very historically accurate (it’s Heyer after all) but it seems like such a mismatch between author and subject! I do want to read the Lively though. She is a writer who rarely disappoints.
