  1. I’d put reading the Claudine novels fairly high on the list of things to do, and not to be considered in the same breath with the Keira Knightley thing. Colette was not yet the mature stylist she later became when she was writing the Claudines, but they are full of vigor and unruly charm.

  2. I haven’t read much Colette, but I bought a beautiful edition of this from Second Shelf books which inspired me to read it straight away. I loved it.
